How OMNY works What is OMNY? OMNY is the contactless fare payment system for public transit in the New York region. Simply use your contactless credit or debit card, smart phone, wearable device, or an OMNY card to tap and ride. OMNY is accepted on subways, buses, paratransit, and other regional services. And yes, the MetroCard is going away.

OMNY is available at all subway stations, MTA-operated buses, Staten Island Railway (SIR), Hudson Rail Link, the Roosevelt Island Tram, and AirTrain-Howard Beach and AirTrain-Jamaica stations in New York City. More transit providers will be added soon. OMNY supports full-fare and reduced-fare pay-per-ride options, including free transfers and fare capping.

Purchase or reload your OMNY card at select retail locations across the New York City area. OMNY cards purchased at retailers cost $1. While you will pay $5 upfront, a $4 travel credit is automatically applied to your card. You can view this credit by logging into your OMNY account and checking your Trip & Charge History.
