Vinyl records sound better. The quality of a digital music recording like a CD is limited by its bitrate, or the rate at which it records information. The sound on a digital album is a series of snapshots, and the music is often compressed afterwards to reduce the file size. The grooves of a record are continuous and lossless.

Hey guys, So I have a very small house in Western MA (main floor just under 900sq ft + walkout basement/built in garage which will not be heated, about 700sq ft of basement that will be heated). I have all electric baseboard heat on my main floor and my basement has a non-functioning gas stove...
The stack was lower than my house and it would set off a smoke detector in my attic. The town elected to work with him and after he put in a 30' extension on his stack it became far less of an issue. Obviously making your home tighter will reduce the smoke getting inside. If you have a chimney and are not using it, that is logical thing to seal ...
I needed to with a 30 year old house. Before that, the stove would run for awhile, suck smoke through all the pipe seams, then after I sealed those it would just choke and die and fill the house with smoke. Ran beautiful afterwards. You can try bracing it to the house by attaching steel brackets of some sort to the chimney and structure of the house to buy you a year, maybe, but even then i wouldnt want a couple 2x4's to hold up thousands of pounds of brick and masonry. Is there just that one flue in the chimney?
From there the main to the house goes underground to the main house and comes up an exterior wall and actually above the ceiling into the attic space (under insulation but still meh). Kitchen sink and original shower are both exterior walls.
Hello all, new member here and I absolutely love the site. I was hoping for some help from the experts. I bought a Quadrafire Sante Fe 2 years ago when I bought my house to replace an older Whitfield stove. It is vented out of the wall of my house, currently with about 1 ft. of pipe from the...
Our house was built in 2009 and it has a beautiful fireplace with an insert. We didn't do too many fires last winter (maybe 1) but this year are wanting to use it more.
In Direct Vent installations, combustion air is drawn into a sealed firebox from outside the house through coaxial intake/ exhaust pipe. This eliminates depressurization, resulting in a warmer, healthier home environment.
I'm thinking of putting an outdoor burner in as a back up heat source and was wondering how far from the house it should be. I live in a rural area and there is no code for this.
