When you use styles to create a document, you can change how the whole document looks with just a few clicks. A style is a set of characteristics, such as font name, size, color, paragraph alignment, spacing, borders, and shading.
You can use styles to quickly apply a set of formatting choices consistently throughout your document. If you want formatting choices that are not available from the built-in styles and themes available in Word, you can modify an existing style and customize it to suit your needs.
In Word, styles are reusable sets of formatting options that you can apply to text. For example, suppose you want the headings in your document to appear in bold and in a particular color and font size.
Instead of using direct formatting, use styles to format your document so you can quickly and easily apply a set of formatting choices consistently throughout your document.

Text styles vary depending on the view you've chosen. Text styles can't be changed using Resource Form, Sprint Planning Board, Task Form, Task Board, or Network diagram views, but those views might have other formatting options. Select Format > Text Styles.
Apply a style: To select a text style, tap the style icon, and then select from the list of defined styles. Add bullet or numbered lists: Tap the text and then tap the bullet or the numbered list icon. Indent a paragraph: Tap the text, and then tap the indent icon to move the text to the right.
