If Janus even had close to the overhead and engineering support to design and manufacture their own engine, these bikes would be as expensive as a Motus. And we all know what happened to Motus anyway.

Janus uses a proprietary fork design, and some models (not all) use Ikon shocks from Australia. The bikes rely heavily on made-in-the-US parts; in its early days, Amish craftsmen were building the frames and other locally-sourced bits. Here is the old Janus Halcyon 250. The 450 version has rear suspension as well as a beefier motor.
Janus also has Black Friday pricing on its 250 lineup (rather early in the season for Black Friday… ), offering $300 off their bikes and 20 percent off upgrades and options if ordered before . This deal does not apply to the 450 line.
Then there’s the Janus Gryffin 250. Johnny Pow thought seriously about this bike for the TAT. Again, it’s a Chinese Honda engine clone. It’s almost too hipster though. I’d definitely have to get my facial hair game in order to own this. I’d probably also have to buy the correct open-faced helmet and goggles.
Yes, I agree, JANUS would be a fun putt; BUT when a prospective customer contacts them, they need the professionalism to respond! No contact - No Sale! I already have a fun little putt as you can see above. Janus is cool, but if they don't want my $$$ ....
Can one simply disconnect, or does it need to somehow be reinstalled? I've also had great success with a Nibbi carb on a Janus Halcyon 250 (CG250 motor) but it raises the same questions. Really puzzled by that carb heater. I'm willing to try without, but don't know what that does to the control circuitry on the bike. Suggestions welcome! John #4692
